ON THE ETHNOGRAPHER


















    My name is Diamond Alexis Gabriel. There are moments in this lifetime when my memories and those of the Aquasapien become entangled. Fleeting moments that present themselves as false memory, ‘glitches’ in the timeline, allowing me to peek into the world of these creatures. I can never truly distinguish between the real and the counterfeit. Therefore, my work as both artist and ethnographer treats these moments as truth and presents them as I have come to see them. Points of tethering, slippings of the veil, awakenings.

To effectively place you in these moments, you may need more. I have obliged. My work showcases images of these beings, the world they inhabit, and the minutiae of their everyday life: their love, their loss, their morals, and their origin. They are all that we, as humans, could hope to be, and with their sanction, I am honored to present them to you. The Aquasapiens.
